Nurturing the canine mind, body, and soul

My Journey

Hi! I’m Amanda, the owner of The Roaming Paw K9 Training & Services.

I first started my journey working with dogs about 10 years ago, working for a local dog trainer. I then pursued veterinary medicine and have been a Certified Veterinary Assistant for the past 7 years; always having a passion for canine behaviour and understanding dogs. I started teaching at the University of the Fraser Valley, joining their team of instructors for the Veterinary Assistant Program there, and taught for 3 years before following  my desire to do more formal behaviour training. I decided to become a Certified Professional Dog Trainer in 2024 and graduated from the Good Dog Academy in 2025.

I still work in veterinary medicine, but have now combined my skills from that industry with my K9 training skills, in hopes to advocate further for dogs, both physically and mentally. I am Fear Fear Certified and K9 First Aid Certified.

I have a special place in my heart for reactive dogs, and love setting up puppies for success into their adulthood. Educating others about proper canine socialization and how important enriching their lives is, is one of my favourite things to chat about!

I share my life with my partner, Niko, our 3 cats (Loki, Gizmo, and Xena) and our Border Collie, Keda. I love to dabble in the dog sports world with Keda and enjoy practicing Scent Detection and Urban & Trailing Locating here in the lower mainland.
