Nurturing the canine mind, body, and soul

Choosing a dog trainer is a big decision, and I believe it’s important that we’re the right fit for each other. My priority is ensuring that my training approach aligns with your dog’s needs and your expectations. I value transparency and ethical training, and I will always be upfront about whether I’m the right trainer for your situation.

The FAQs below will give you a clearer understanding of my approaches and help ensure if The Roaming Paw is right fit for you and your dog.

What training methods do you use?

I use reward-based, force-free training that focuses on building trust, clear communication, and long-term results. This means no fear, pain, or intimidation, just proven methods that help your dog want to learn. Force-free training is especially important for fearful or sensitive dogs. Sessions move at your dog’s pace and prioritize emotional well-being.

How long does training take?

Every dog is different. Training is a process, not a quick fix, but you’ll see progress along the way. Training timelines typically depend on:

Do you offer private training lessons and group lessons?

Private sessions are fully customized to you and your dog. They’re ideal for specific goals, behaviour concerns, or owners who want one-on-one support.

Unfortunately, I do not offer group lessons at this time.

Do you guarantee results?

Dogs are not robots, and training depends heavily on consistency outside of sessions. While results cannot be guaranteed, I do guarantee honest guidance, ethical training, and support every step of the way. I’ll always keep you informed and supported as you move through your dog’s training journey.

What do I need to bring to a training session?

Specific recommendations will be shared before your session, but you can expect to always need the following:

High-value treats or a favourite toy available

A standard leash or long line if requested (NO retractable leashes, please)

A flat collar or harness

Refund Policy

Once payment has been received for the agreed-upon training program or lessons, all sales are considered final. Refunds are not permitted unless a prior arrangement or discussion has been made and approved.

We understand that unexpected circumstances can arise, so if you need to reschedule or discuss alternative arrangements, please reach out as soon as possible. Our goal is to ensure that both you and your dog have the best experience and training outcome possible.

Transfer of Training

If your dog is rehomed during the course of our training program and you have remaining sessions, those sessions may be transferred to the new owner, provided they are located within my service areas.
